Description
This chapter starts with the issue of cooperation which is manifest in the different social aspects of qanat system as the main water supply in central Iran. Qanat is a subterranean tunnel with a gentle slope, which drains out groundwater taking advantage of a height difference along its tunnel and by the force of gravity. Cooperation is an inherent element of a qanat's social organization from its construction to operation.
