Description
Being aware of the nameplates system as a boundary object can help to decode and understand meetings in international organizations like UNESCO, in casu the meetings of the Intergovernmental Committee and the General Assembly of the 2003 UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Research on the evolution and potential of the Basic Texts and what happened and happens in the arenas of those Organs in the last two decades and in the near future is not restricted to the zone of observers. Sensitized by research on the 1972 UNESCO Convention and other organizations and a recent volume edited by Chiara Bortolotto and Ahmed Skounti, the perspectives of insider researchers and of researchers like the author, who are participating in serial short entries over a long period of time, taking different roles in the nameplate system, are discussed, including the importance of positionality and reflexivity.
