Groundwater Quality Management: A Multi-Dimensional Problem
Description
It has been estimated that about ten percent of our world's land surface is desert — and that another forty percent borders on these deserts and is itself in great danger of desertification. Other areas of the world are also in danger because of the lack of good stewardship on the part of man. It is not difficult to find examples of waterlogging of agricultural lands, major areas of deforestation with subsequent problems of erosion and sedimentation and salt-water encroachment along coastal zones (La Moreaux, 1986).
