Community Practices of Transmitting Daily and Disaster Information in Reihoku Area

There are two major measures for disaster risk reduction, structural and non-structural measures. Early warning and evacuation are the major non-structural measures which are based on judgment and action of local people. Their judgment and action are decided by information through various media. In this paper, relation of media and local people in Reihoku area is analyzed. Reihoku area, Kochi prefecture is a landslide disaster-prone area. Possible information system for disaster risk reduction in Reihoku area is discussed based on the result of a questionnaire survey.
