River Training and Defense from Floods
Description
River training comprises engineering measures and works on rivers aimed at various objectives, of which one may be defense against floods. In this chapter works on the main channel are considered insofar as they serve flood defense objectives, while the relationships between the main channel and the floodplain are discussed in another chapter by the same author1.
